30 Day Challenge - Day 7

30 Day Challenge - Day 7

Yesterday we talked about how you weren’t born to hate yourself and that you should love yourself instead. Well, that can be easier said than done.

If you’re struggling with loving and valuing yourself, then today's challenge is especially for you. When you watch today's video, you'll understand what I’m talking about. So, watch right now and then come back.

-------------------

So often, when people tell you to love yourself, that sort of advice can do more harm than good. Today, I want you to try something different. I want you to try as best as you can to judge yourself the way you would judge your very best friend.

Close your eyes and picture your best friend. Now, think about it, if this best friend of yours was 50 pounds “overweight”, would that stop you from caring about them?

“Oh sorry Susan, you’re a little too big right now for me to be friends with you anymore…”

If this best friend had “normal” skin instead of the flawless (airbrushed) skin of a movie star, would that make even the tiniest bit of difference in the way you think about her/him?

“Well Susan yes you did lose the weight, but your skin...I’m not sure if I can be seen with you while it’s like that…”

And if this best friend of yours wasn’t in great shape?

You get the picture. You still smile when you see her and love being around her. And that’s my point with today's challenge.

It’s so often easier to have grace and compassion towards others (especially our besties) than it is to be gracious with ourselves. For some reason, it’s just easier to see the dignity of others than it is to see our own.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Here’s your challenge for today: I want you to hold yourself to the same standards you hold your friends to. If you can be compassionate towards them, and accept them for who they are, I want you to do the same for yourself.

Today, pay attention to the way your talk to yourself, think about yourself, how you move your body... everything. Spend your entire day in a way that shows respect and love for yourself.

Now, I know this can be difficult and that it will take practice, but you can do it. You must do it!!!

With that posture of self-compassion and self-acceptance, I want you to take on a challenging workout today. You'll notice that in today's workout I begin with a track from my beautiful friend Heather and the collection she helped me put together called Body Groove Fit. I'd love to know how you like it.

Until tomorrow,

Misty.
